LOCALTR / DOCS
Installation and first launch
Check macOS requirements, install a verified release and understand the permissions requested on first launch.
- Environment
- Verified Mac package and macOS approvals
- Evidence scope
- Explanatory app guide; check the steps separately on your installed Mac release.
- Expected outcome
- Check package source/architecture and helper/CA approvals separately; clean-Mac installation needs a separate check.
- Verify the package
Check the release and file details on the download page. Read security warnings.
- Review helper approval
Review administrator approval for local routing. Cancelling leaves that setup incomplete.
- Set up HTTPS trust separately
For local HTTPS, verify the CA belongs to LocalTR. Other devices need separate trust.
Actual approval screens and removal steps will be updated with a verified package and clean-Mac checks.
Before you begin
LocalTR requires macOS 14 or later. The application you want to expose must run on your Mac; LocalTR does not replace your development server. Local tools and public sharing use different network paths.
Install
- Open the download page. Download the DMG only when a verified release is listed. If downloads are still in preparation, a usable artifact has not been published yet.
- Drag LocalTR from the DMG into Applications and launch it there. If macOS displays a security warning, check the wording and the file's source. Do not disable system security globally.
- Read the helper permission requested when setting up local addresses. For local HTTPS, complete the separate local root certificate trust step. Cancelling administrator approval leaves that setup incomplete.
- Start your own development server. Confirm that a direct address such as
http://localhost:3000responds before adding your first local domain.
Expected result
The app opens and you can give a local service a name. An open application window alone does not establish that the helper was installed or that a public link is reachable from another network. Test each step using its own address.
If something fails
An older operating system requires a Mac running a supported macOS version. If permissions were denied, identify the failed step before retrying. Send support the app version, macOS version and a redacted error message for launch failures. Never include your license key or administrator password.
